As Time Goes By...

Time is flying ever so quickly!  I'll probably be hoping that the third trimester goes just as quickly...

This week Baby Nehemiah is the size of an eggplant!  He is getting bigger and bigger, and in only 3 weeks I'll be headed back to the Dr. for the third trimester blood work!

We are very excited to get into our new apartment, and Nehemiah's room is actually now empty of all of the boxes of stuff that we were storing in there!  The crib is waiting to be set up and pictures will come when things get further along, so watch for them!

How Big is Baby?

This week, Baby Nehemiah is the size of a...

papaya!

Nehemiah is growing more and more, and he's already kicking around at times.  We're excited as we get ready to move into a new apartment.  Then we'll be able to really start working on Nehemiah's room!

Dinosaur Crafts

I'm usually not good and crafts and such, but I've had a blast working with my husband and making these things for Nehemiah's room!

This name sign is made with wood cutouts, and puffy sticky letters.  I only used glue!

This "N" is the same way.  I just glued the dinosaur on it.

These were my last project.  I painted the backgrounds on canvas, and then glued on the wooden dinosaurs and trees.  I love it!

I've loved dinosaurs every since I was little.  I spent hours and hours playing with dinosaur figurines, pretending to be dinosaurs, or what have you with my brothers.  You can tell by looking through my children's books that I love dinosaurs.  Growing up, Danny and the Dinosaur was one of my favorite books.

When I thought about how to decorate a nursery, I knew that I wanted to do something different.  Jungle animals are cute, but EVERYONE is doing jungle animals right now.  Well, there aren't many people doing a dinosaur theme.  (I know this, because it's incredibly difficult to find decorations and blankets with dinosaurs on them.  That's ok, because I'm not going to decorate a lot, but I do want to have some cute dinosaur things for Nehemiah.  I've searched the internet and stores, and been on a grand dinosaur hunt all over, looking for the "perfect" decorative ideas.  So far, I think I've done pretty well, and after a quick trip to Hobby Lobby yesterday, I have already made a few dinosaur decorations, with a few more to come.  (Pictures will come soon.)

So, Nehemiah will have a unique, dinosaur themed room.  We're pretty excited to see how it will turn out.

And he shall be called....

Finding a boy's name was harder that we had originally thought that it was going to be. Our first choice was changed, after learning of about 7 other people with the same name.  (I like to be original.)  Finally we have decided on a name  (unless we soon discover 7 other people with the same name.)  Our little one's name is Nehemiah Andrew.

Nehemiah means "Comforted by God."  We like this meaning, but we also really like the story of Nehemiah in the Bible.  If you haven't read his story lately, check it out.  You'll find it in the book of...well, Nehemiah.  Also, Andrew is my wonderful husband's middle name, and a name that I've always loved.

So, there you have it. Baby B's name is Nehemiah Andrew. :)

On another note...today we went to Hobby Lobby, one of my favorite stores, and picked up some stuff to make things for Nehemiah's room.  Be watching for those pictures, coming soon.

And Baby Is...

Baby Bertram is a Boy!  Wow, what a surprise that was.  All of the old wive's tales were wrong, as well as the Chinese gender chart. :)  Everything on the ultrasound looked great, said the Dr.  I couldn't believe that he was already almost a pound!

Dad was VERY excited to see the baby boy, and boy was baby Bertram kicking.  I think Dad might have some ideas of future soccer games. :)

Also, Baby Bertram is 20 weeks today!  He's the size of a cantaloupe, and he has reached the halfway mark.  I can't believe how fast time is flying.

Keep checking back for more updates.  We are continuing to "settle" on a name, even though we are pretty sure we are decided. :)  Check for when we share it with out.  Also, be watching for an update about our nursery "theme."

Week 19

There is a mango in my kitchen.  I don't remember whether or not I've actually eaten a mango, but my husband brought it home from work one day.  Why?  Well, Baby B is the size of a mango this week!  I have to tell you that when I saw that mango, it kind of freaked me out a little.  There's a human, inside of me, that big?!?!?  I know, they will get bigger, but just the thought was a shock, and then a little bit of awe. Wow, that's kind of cool, that God can have a human grow so much, and so quickly inside of me.

On another Baby note...I hesitate to tell you this, in case I fail, but I have started Baby B's blanket.  Yes, I'm knitting it.  (I've started now so that I'll have plenty of time to finish it.)  It's mostly blue with specks of purple and pink, since we don't know if Baby B is a boy or girl yet.  I'll post pictures when it actually starts to look like a blanket.

Lastly, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday is the big day.  We finally get to "see" Baby B, and hopefully they will cooperate and let us know if they are a boy or a girl.  I'm saying girl, and so far that's what people are still voting for.  There was at least one boy vote last I checked, but I suspect that might be my husband trying to prove me wrong. :)

How Big is Baby?

Wow!  What a busy week it's been.  With it being so busy, I haven't been able to post about Baby B's development this week.  I have to say, so far this is my favorite week, because now, baby can hear us!!!  Honestly, a lot of what Baby B is hearing for the most part is the World Cup.  :)  Like father like...???

Speaking of if Baby B is a boy or a girl.  So far, all of the votes in our poll say that you think she is a girl!  (I do too.)  It's only a little over a week until we find out!  So how big is Baby B this week?!?!?

Baby's now the size of a sweet potato!
Baby's become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements.

Now that baby can hear what's going on outside the womb, it's time to get out the tunes. Her faves? Classical, lullabies, new age...and anything else that resembles your own thumping heart (about 60 beats per minute).

Boy or Girl?

It's less than four weeks until the "big" ultrasound.  We are hoping to find out if we are having a boy or a girl... Vote on the right to make your guess on what we are having...Boy or Girl?

Then after we find out (hopefully) we'll make the big announcement!

How Big is Baby?

One of our favorite parts of the week is to check and see (according to thebump.com) how big the baby is.  Each week the baby is compared the size of a fruit or vegetable.  It's always fun to see how much the baby grows each week.  We started with apple seeds and sweet peas, but this week baby is the size of an....

 Onion!
